First outfitted Gulfstream G800 takes flight
December 2, 2024
Gulfstream Aerospace has achieved a significant milestone with the inaugural flight of its Gulfstream G800 outfitted for cabin interior testing.
This aircraft, designed to validate the cabin’s design and performance, marks an important phase in the certification process for the world’s longest-range business jet.
The G800 test aircraft took off on November 27, flying for 1 hour and 41 minutes. Reaching an altitude of 46,000 feet and a top speed of Mach 0.91, the flight focused on assessing interior systems and passenger comfort under operational conditions. The aircraft will now undergo rigorous tests, including repeated system checks across diverse flight scenarios, overnight missions, and extreme weather simulations.
The G800’s interior features advanced amenities such as an ultra-galley with extensive storage and appliance options, a dedicated crew compartment, and customizable living spaces accommodating up to 19 passengers. Sleeping arrangements are available for up to 10 passengers, underscoring Gulfstream’s focus on long-haul comfort.
Setting benchmarks in its class, the G800 offers a range of 8,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 or 7,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.90.
Drawing from the extensive test program of the G700, the G800 benefits from shared advancements across the Gulfstream fleet. The milestone brings the G800 closer to entering service.
“The G800 flight test program is making great progress, reaffirming our confidence in the flexibility, durability and reliability this aircraft will provide,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream.
“With its vast range of innovative customisation options, the ultralong-range G800 is a true testament to our industry-leading completions and interior and industrial design teams and their commitment to bespoke artistry.”
