Delta Air Lines and LATAM have extended their existing joint venture to include Argentina, further cementing their trans-American alliance two years after the partnership first launched.

The move opens up new travel and cargo opportunities between Argentina and key destinations in the United States and Canada, expanding the joint network to more than 200 cities, the airlines said.

The expanded agreement gives travellers in Argentina improved access to Delta’s North American route map.

“The expansion of our joint venture with LATAM to include Argentina marks another milestone in our mission to build the leading partnership between North and South America,” said Delta in a joint statement with LATAM.

“It represents our continued efforts to offer customers a wider network, consistent service, and more rewarding loyalty options.”

The joint venture’s expansion is expected to significantly boost cargo operations between Argentina and North America.

The carriers have begun implementation, having already notified Argentina’s National Commission for the Defense of Competition for post-launch evaluation.
