Air France-KLM has revised its order for Airbus A350 freighters, reducing its original plan from eight aircraft to six.

The move will see Air France and Martinair, KLM’s cargo subsidiary, each take delivery of three aircraft instead of four.

A spokesperson for the airline group confirmed the adjustment but insisted it did not indicate a shift in strategy.

“This does not mean any change in strategy. We will continue to operate our hybrid model of freighter aircraft combined with belly cargo on Air France-KLM Group’s passenger aircraft,” the spokesperson was quoted by CH-Aviation as saying.

Air France operates two Boeing 777-200 freighters, while Martinair has a fleet of two Boeing 747-400ERFs and one 747-400BCF.

The A350 freighters were originally ordered in two phases, with Air France placing an order for four in 2022 and Martinair following with four more in early 2023.

The aircraft were initially scheduled for delivery in 2026, but that timeline has now been pushed back to 2027.
