AIRCAIRO orders 15 Airbus A320neo jets as it targets fleet of more than 130 aircraft by 2034

AIRCAIRO has marked a significant milestone in its growth strategy this week after placing a firm order for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft.

The agreement, signed at the El Alamein International Airshow on 8 September, represents AIRCAIRO’s first direct order with Airbus. The jets will join its existing leased fleet.

Hussein Sherif, Chairman & CEO of AIRCAIRO said, “This agreement represents a natural next step in AIRCAIRO’s growth. Combining owned aircraft with our leased fleet gives us greater operational flexibility and financial efficiency as we scale up.”

AIRCAIRO signs first Airbus aircraft deal

Founded in 2003, AIRCAIRO serves more than 60 destinations across Europe and the Middle East. However, the carrier is looking to expand its international network by adding the new-generation narrowbodies to its fleet.

“The A320neo will provide the capacity needed to expand our network, serve the growing demand for travel to and from Egypt, and support the country’s aviation and tourism sectors in close partnership with Airbus”, adds Sherif.

How AIRCAIRO plans to triple its fleet by 2034

The Egyptian carrier has grown from seven aircraft in 2021 to a fleet of over 45 aircraft today. It has big ambitions, and plans to grow to a fleet of over 130 aircraft by 2034. 

This week’s firm order for 15 A320neos will mean extra capacity while giving the airline the flexibility and operational efficiency needed to expand across domestic, regional, and international networks.

Why the Airbus A320neo?

The Airbus A320 family is the best-selling commercial airliner ever built, and airlines are still ordering them in huge numbers. The latest figures from Airbus reveal they delivered 26 A320neos in August. The A320 family accounted for 43 of the month’s 57 total deliveries.

Powered by new-generation engines, they deliver at least 20% lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared with previous-generation aircraft.
