Oman Air is making moves to restore its international network with the return of double-daily flights between Muscat and London Heathrow, marking a significant step in its turnaround strategy after years of shrinking.

The carrier will resume twice-daily service on select days from 26 October 2025, expanding to 14 flights per week by summer 2026.

The route will be operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The new rotation will depart Muscat at 01:40 and arrive in London at 05:55, with the return leg leaving Heathrow at 08:25 and landing in Muscat at 19:35. The expanded schedule will initially operate on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The additional frequencies mark a strategic shift for Oman Air, which has been scaling back in recent years in a bid to achieve long-term financial sustainability. The Omani national carrier has reduced its fleet, cut unprofitable routes, and restructured its operations as part of a broader push to improve profitability and reduce reliance on government subsidies.

CEO Con Korfiatis has positioned the UK as a priority market and signalled renewed ambition ahead of Oman Air’s entry into the oneworld alliance.

“We’re proud to restore our double-daily service to meet the robust demand from our guests. London has always been a cornerstone of our international network, and the UK represents one of our largest inbound tourism markets, so this enhancement not only strengthens our presence on this key route but also supports Oman’s wider tourism ambitions,” he said.

“As we continue to grow, and particularly as we prepare to join oneworld, we remain focused on unlocking market potential, while consistently delivering an exceptional travel experience.”

The London expansion also aligns with the Sultanate’s tourism diversification strategy, which aims to draw more visitors to Oman beyond the traditional Gulf markets. By offering improved access via London – and onward travel to North America with oneworld partners such as British Airways and American Airlines – Oman Air is betting on premium long-haul traffic.
