Global Sky and VoltAero sign MoU for pre-order of aircraft
July 22, 2024
Global Sky has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VoltAero for the pre-order of 15 Cassio aircraft, an adaptable electric-hybrid aircraft. The agreement will enable the companies to bring Cassio to Southeast Asia for efficient and sustainable regional air mobility, including defined routes and operations for the aircraft, airport compatibility, recharging infrastructure, and a Cassio distribution network.
“Cassio is a perfect match for the regional air mobility ambitions of Southeast Asia, bringing together the aircraft’s flight range with the designed-in safety of our patented parallel electric-hybrid propulsion system,” said Jean Botti, VoltAero’s CEO & chief technology officer.
Christian Duhain, the CEO of Global Sky, seconded Botti’s sentiments about meeting the growing needs of Southeast Asia: “[The] regional aviation infrastructure will mature rapidly in the coming years with a growing emphasis on sustainability, which creates the right environment for the introduction of Cassio.”
The Cassio family of electric-hybrid aircraft can be used for regional commercial operators, air taxi/charter companies, private owners, and as in utility-category service for cargo, postal delivery and medical evacuation (Medevac) applications. Production will occur in three versions: the five-seat Cassio 330, the six-seat Cassio 480, and the Cassio 600 with 10-12 seats. The aircraft employ the ENGINeUS 100 electric motor for all-electric power during taxi, takeoff, primary flight—if the distance traveled is less than 150 km—and landing. The hybrid feature can be used as a range extender, as the batteries recharge while in flight.
Global Sky provides sales and acquisition services to aircraft owners, with exclusive access to fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. They also provide additional services like management and financing and technical support.
