American Airlines pilots streamlined UK security programme

Passengers connecting through Heathrow Airport (LHR) will now benefit from a more seamless travel experience, thanks to a new security programme launched by American Airlines in collaboration with the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the UK Department for Transport (DfT).
The pilot programme, called One Stop Security (OSS), eliminates the need for customers travelling from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to international (non-UK) destinations via Heathrow to undergo a second security screening when connecting through Terminals 3 or 5.
OSS is designed to simplify the transfer process for international passengers, reducing the time spent in security queues and allowing for a more convenient travel experience. Instead of re-screening and re-checking luggage, passengers can proceed directly to their connecting flights.
American Airlines played a key role in rolling out the initiative as one of the founding partners.
By streamlining security checks, the OSS pilot programme aims to enhance efficiency and improve the overall passenger experience at Heathrow, making international connections quicker and hassle-free.
“American Airlines is thrilled to be working with the US and UK governments to roll out a first-of-its-kind security agreement that will provide our customers a more seamless and secure flying experience,” said Nate Gatten, chief government affairs officer for American.
“This partnership simplifies international air travel for our customers, and we look forward to opportunities to expand it to more airports, including from LHR to DFW, in the future.”
“What this means for our customers — and our team’s ability to care for our customers — cannot be overstated,” said David Seymour, American’s chief operating officer.
“We’re creating a more convenient and significantly less rushed connection experience — one that our customers won’t just see, they’ll feel.”
