Aeromexico teams up with Viasat to enhance in-flight connectivity

February 20, 2025

Building on their existing partnership, Viasat is retrofitting Aeromexico’s fleet of 17 Boeing Dreamliners with its advanced in-flight WiFi technology.
Aeromexico’s decision to upgrade its eight B787-8s and nine B787-9s with Viasat’s connectivity system is in line with the airline’s commitment to provide passengers and crew with an enhanced onboard experience. The first of the retrofitted Viasat-equipped aircraft is set to enter service later in 2025.
“Providing the best in-flight experience is one of our top priorities,” said Andrés Castañeda, chief of digital & customer experience officer & EVP of Aeromexico. “We work hard to elevate each passenger’s journey to an extraordinary experience and we know that connectivity is essential.”
Passengers will benefit from the ability to stream video, browse the web and real-time messaging throughout their flight with free, ad-supported connectivity sessions using the Viasat ads platform.
Castañeda added, “with Viasat’s resilient, multi-orbit satellite roadmap, Aeromexico is looking forward to continuing to work together to bring high-quality in-flight WiFi to customers long into the future.”
To further elevate its passenger experience, including key metrics like the Net Promoter Score (NPS) and customer loyalty, Aeromexico says it will continue to leverage Viasat’s high-capacity, Ka-band satellite network to provide a seamless, high-speed online experience on routes served by its Dreamliner fleet including to cities across Europe and Latin America
Viasat, in turn, is committed to enhancing the aviation market by combining its high-throughput satellite capacity with the flexibility to dynamically adjust that capacity, ensuring it meets passenger demand in real time, when and where it is needed.
