A new passenger terminal has opened at Korkyt Ata Airport (KZO) in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan, significantly enhancing the region’s connectivity and economic prospects.

Developed by Verny Capital and the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation with a $35 million investment, the 7,500 sq m facility increases the airport’s annual capacity sevenfold to accommodate 2 million passengers.

The modern terminal, designed by Turkish firm GMW Mimarlik, features advanced technology such as self-service check-ins, automated baggage systems, and jet bridges.

Amenities include a business lounge, family facilities, and a transit zone for international connections.

Olzhas Bektenov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, commented: “The new terminal at Korkyt Ata Airport is an important infrastructure project, which will open new flight routes, enhance transit capacity, and increase passenger and cargo traffic.

“All these developments will have a positive impact on the growth of domestic tourism, trade, and the broader economy, and the government continues to give its full support to socially focused business initiatives.”
