Thales leverages growth in India with Adani collaboration
October 10, 2024
Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) partners with Thales to transform the passenger experience and airport operations in India.
The strategic partnership, which has already seen the deployment of Thales’ Fly to Gate solution at the seven top-tier airports operated by AAHL, will now see the implementation of Thales’ Airport Operation Control Centre (APOC) across its airport portfolio. Ashish Saraf, VP and country director for India, Thales, commented that the combination of its Fly to Gate solution and APOC platform will “enable AAHL to streamline operations and ensure a secure and simplified journey for millions of passengers.”
DigiYatra compliant
The collaboration is aligned with the Ministry of Civil Aviation in India’s DigiYatra scheme, which was first introduced at airports in 2022 and uses facial recognition to digitally validate passenger identification at various check points. Thales’ Fly to Gate biometric solution for DigiYatra was deployed in early 2024 to help streamline and enhance the passenger journey at Mumbai, Jaipur, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Lucknow, Mangaluru and Ahmedabad airports. Pre-enrolled passengers eliminate the need to show paper ID or boarding passes at each check point, instead using biometrics to proceed with their journey through the airport. According to Thales the solution reduces passenger processing times by up to 30%.
End-to-end solution
Following the successful deployment of Fly to Gate, Adani has now strengthened its partnerships with Thales, tasking the technology provider with creating an end-to-end APOC solution for all airports in its portfolio. Operating out of one central location, the cloud-based Smart Digital Platform will host all the necessary applications to streamline operations and enhance the overall airport management, security and the passenger experience. Using aggregated data from integrated airports sub-systems and sensors, the APOC platform will use big data analytics and algorithms to process this data and establish trends and patterns that can be used to predict and manage operations more efficiently.
Underlining the opportunity to leverage growth in India’s aviation market Saraf concluded, “we are committed to support India in its vision of becoming the largest aviation market in the world by 2047.”
