The UK Government has confirmed its largest-ever commitment to the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, reinforcing the event’s growing role as a centrepiece for defence diplomacy, international collaboration and industrial strategy.

Returning after its debut in 2024, the UK Government Hub will once again serve as a focal point for engagement between government, industry and global partners. Officials from across Whitehall will convene to showcase UK capabilities, promote investment opportunities and strengthen ties with allied nations.

The expanded 2026 presence reflects the airshow’s increasing importance within the UK’s wider defence diplomacy agenda. The government has identified Farnborough as a key platform for advancing foreign policy objectives, using the event to connect with international delegations and industry leaders across aerospace, defence and space.

The UK Government Hub will bring together a broad range of departments and agencies, including the National Armaments Director Group within the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business and Trade, UK Export Finance, the National Wealth Fund, the Department for Transport, the Export Control Joint Unit and the Met Office.

This cross-government approach is designed to present a more unified offer to industry and international partners, spanning procurement, exports, regulation, finance and innovation.

At the centre of the defence engagement will be the National Armaments Director Group, which is responsible for delivering and sustaining the UK’s defence capabilities and infrastructure.

Rupert Pearce, the UK’s National Armaments Director, highlighted the importance of collaboration in an increasingly complex security environment.

“In today’s environment, the UK can only deliver the pace, resilience and efficiency we need by building stronger partnerships between government, industry and our allies,” he said.

“This underscores the significant strategic contribution the Farnborough International Airshow makes, as a platform that brings together the UK defence base, towards ensuring the nation remains secure and resilient at home and abroad.”

Pearce added that the Hub would provide an opportunity to connect with “investors, innovators and manufacturers of all sizes” and demonstrate how the UK’s evolving operating model will deliver capability to the armed forces more effectively.

Finance and space take centre stage at Farnborough Airshow

Alongside defence and trade, financing and investment will play a more prominent role at the 2026 show.

Following the launch of the Aerospace Global Forum: Finance Summit, both the British Business Bank and the National Wealth Fund have been confirmed as supporting partners.

Their involvement is expected to give aerospace and defence companies greater visibility of funding pathways, particularly for scaling new technologies and supporting long-term growth.

The UK Space Agency will also feature in the dedicated Space Zone, signalling continued efforts to integrate the UK’s space ambitions into the broader aerospace and defence ecosystem.

FIA2026 draws record government and industry turnout

The scale of the UK Government’s commitment underscores the continued growth of Farnborough as one of the world’s leading aerospace events. The 2024 edition attracted more than 100,000 visitors, 1,500 exhibitors and over 420 delegations spanning civil, military and space sectors.

With trade visitor tickets now on sale for 2026, organisers are anticipating strong demand for what is being positioned as the most internationally focused and commercially significant edition yet.

As governments and industry increasingly look to collaborate on next-generation capabilities, from advanced air systems to space technologies, Farnborough is cementing its role not just as a showcase, but as a marketplace for partnerships, policy and investment.
