Firestorm Labs, a defense technology startup dedicated to “tackling evolving defense needs” through distributed or expeditionary manufacturing of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), has opened a new state-of-the-art, 14,000 square foot headquarters in Kearny Mesa, San Diego, California.
Fresh off a $12.5 fundraising round, the opening, in the presence of San Diego Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (CA-51), showcased Firestorm’s cutting-edge systems, including the Tempest self-loitering munition (pictured) and xCell, an expeditionary additive manufacturing capability housed in a shipping container.
Dan Magy, Co-Founder and CEO, said Firestorm is “revolutionizing manufacturing to rebuild the defense industrial base at home and overseas, by bringing capability development to U.S. communities and U.S. forces at the edge.”
“Firestorm is dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art defense capabilities that meet the challenges of today’s complex security landscape head on.
Congresswoman Jacobs commended Firestone for “driving forward innovation to help our troops and allies identify and neutralize threats”.
Firestorm develops low-cost, highly attritable self-loitering, modular UAS systems and looks to “meet the needs of a changing operational environment, where traditional ‘manned’ solutions will no longer be available.
