Fiji Airlines launches its longest route
December 11, 2024
Fiji Airways has inaugurated its longest flight to date, introducing a new direct service between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Texas, and Nadi (NAN), Fiji.
This marks the airline’s first-ever connection to Texas and reinforces its growing presence in North America.
The route will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This widebody offers 334 seats, including 33 lie-flat, for the 13-hour journey.
The inaugural flight from Nadi touched down at DFW at 15:25 CST on 10 December 2024, where it was met with a water cannon salute.
The first outbound flight from Dallas Fort Worth departed later that evening at 21:55 CST, with passengers scheduled to arrive in Nadi at 05:20 local time on 12 December.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is ranked as the second most connected airport globally, offering passengers on this new route onward travel to destinations across North America and beyond.
Commenting on the launch of the service, Fiji Airways CEO and Managing Director Andre Viljoen said “This new route significantly strengthens Fiji Airways’ connectivity across North America, making it easier than ever for US travellers to access Fiji and the South Pacific, with seamless onward connections to Australia and New Zealand.
“In line with our mission, ‘We Fly for Fiji,’ this new service will bring up to 1,000 passengers to Fiji each week, supporting our nation’s tourism industry and creating new avenues for business collaboration between our two nations.”
DFW’s Chief Executive Officer Sean Donohue said: “DFW is excited to add the beautiful islands of Fiji to our growing portfolio of international destinations, bringing North Texas nonstop access to a tropical paradise and connecting Nadi with DFW’s network of more than 250 destinations around the world.”
The DFW-NAN route is the latest addition to Fiji Airways’ growing North American network, joining existing services from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver. It is the airline’s fifth direct route to the region and its 26th international route overall, further bolstering its reputation as a leading South Pacific carrier.
Additionally, this new connection strengthens Fiji’s position as a key hub for travel between North America, Australasia, and the South Pacific. The route will complement the airline’s upcoming launch of a direct service to Cairns, Australia, scheduled to begin on 10 April 2025.
For UK travellers, the new DFW-NAN route opens additional connectivity options to Fiji via Dallas, a major hub for international flights. This complements Fiji Airways’ existing reputation as a gateway to South Pacific destinations.
