SITA is strengthening its long-standing partnership with Cathay Pacific to significantly enhance network bandwidth across its global airport locations, with the rollout anticipated to be completed by early Q2 2025.

As an early adopter of SITA’s Connect solution, Cathay Pacific is now transitioning to the advanced Connect Go service to support the rollout of high-speed connectivity across its global airport network. The new service will help provide seamless gate-to-gate connectivity for passengers whether they are on the ground or in the air.

Sumesh Patel, president Asia Pacific for SITA underlined the value that Cathay Pacific has placed on SITA’s technology having been “one of the first clients and now one of the early adopters of SITA Connect Go.” He also pointed out that with “airlines and airport networks in the APAC region facing challenges with legacy network infrastructure, SITA’s technology offers a robust, scalable and secure SD0-WAN platform to meet the growing bandwidth demand and help airlines shift their focus towards their customers.”

Enhanced connectivity

Fifty-one airports will benefit from the enhanced connectivity which combines dual internet connectivity to provide bandwidth ranging up to 300 Mbps. The contract includes a planned 12-month design, build, test and implementation period to cover all airports involved in the project. The implementation of Connect Go will facilitate an impressive bandwidth increase of up to five times the current capacity and enable a smooth transition to Cloud applications for the airline.

Cathay Pacific will also benefit from the ultrarapid deployment of SITA’s’ technology thanks to pre-connected and resilient APH-V infrastructure which will reduce downtime and disruption during the installation.

Robust infrastructure

“Airlines across the world have a clear need for strong and robust airport infrastructure so that we can centre our attention on providing the optimal passenger experience,” said Rajeev Nair, general manager, IT Infrastructure and Security at Cathay Pacific.

He added that he is confident that the renewed partnership with SITA will enable the airline to “significantly increase the network capacity in the most cost-effective way, enabling us to further enhance our operational efficiency and allowing us to continue focusing all our efforts on our customers.”
