BAE Systems has completed a $275m takeover of Raytheon’s airborne tactical radios business after receiving regulatory approval.
The business designs, manufactures and supplies a broad range of mission-critical communication systems to the US Department of Defense, allied governments and large defence aircraft manufacturers. The systems have include anti-jamming, multi-band, multi-channel and encryption capabilities.
BAE first announced the deal in January alongside the proposed purchase of Collins Aerospace’s military GPS business for $1.93bn. The business employs around 100 staff in Florida and Indiana and is considered to be a “strong strategic fit, adding complementary positions in the airborne communications domain.”
The business will become part of BAE’s Electronic Systems division.
