HyDEX launches post-election hydrogen roundtable series in UK

HyDEX, a consortium of seven Midlands, UK-based university partners associated with the Energy Research Accelerator (ERA), has launched a hydrogen roundtable series to offer insight on how the incoming UK government can best support the nation’s hydrogen industry.

“By embracing hydrogen, we can catalyse economic growth, regionally and nationally,” said Martin Freer, director of the energy research accelerator. “The Midlands can lead the UK’s transition to a sustainable energy future, but we must act swiftly and decisively to unlock hydrogen’s full potential”.

A variety of industries across the hydrogen spectrum will be invited to join the discussions, including aviation, industry, road transportation, farming and construction; with insight from representatives to form a “strategic set of recommendations, encapsulated in a report”.

HyDEX explains it is working to support and foster the creation of a new hydrogen industrial economy in the Midlands through its work with SMEs, established Midlands-based and UK commercial partners and multinationals to “accelerate innovation, build markets and support the required skills transition”. It is funded by Research England.
