On 9 January 2025, the Greek Air Force received its final Rafale fighter aircraft, completing the acquisition of 24 French-made fighter aircraft.
The single-seat Rafale EG (serial number 457), arrived at Tanagra Air Base shortly after 13:00 hrs local, after a non-stop flight from the Dassault factory in Bordeaux/Mérignac. The aircraft was assigned to the 332 Mira Geraki (332 Squadron, Hawk), part of the 114th Combat Wing.
The initial Greek €2.5 billion contract for 18 Rafales was signed in January 2021, and included ten used and four new single-seat Rafale EG aircraft and two used and two new Rafale DG two-seaters. The contract also included the supply of weapons, initial support, pilot and technician training, and necessary infrastructure at Tanagra. The first Greek Rafale was delivered to Tanagra in July 2021. Six aircraft were initially retained in France for pilot training and these were delivered to Tanagra in January 2022.
Six further new aircraft (four single-seaters and two two-seaters) were ordered for €1.1 Bn in March 2022. The last of these was delivered on 9 January 2025.
