WestJet will extend its codeshare agreement with Virgin Atlantic via London Heathrow as of winter 2024, with the Canadian airline also set to provide domestic connectivity to Virgin’s newly announced route between Toronto Pearson and Heathrow by summer 2025.

“With daily flights from our global hub in Calgary to London, Canadians have never had better international access from across Western Canada to the United Kingdom and beyond,” commented WestJet’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer John Weatherhill. The expanded partnership will provide guests with “single-stop access on a single itinerary” from Calgary via Heathrow to new global destinations including New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, alongside existing cities served.

The expanded codeshare agreement will also mark WestJet’s first agreement enabling connectivity beyond Europe through London Heathrow, described as a “significant milestone in growing WestJet’s global network to even more destinations through partnerships”.

Both parties are working towards a reciprocal frequent flier partnership to commence in 2025, further enhancing cooperation between the airlines.
