Lufthansa has launched its first-ever Airbus A380 commercial flight to Denver, introducing the superjumbo to regular operations at the Colorado hub for the first time.

The new daily service connects Munich with Denver replaces the previously used Airbus A350, adding capacity.

Carrying 509 passengers across four cabins—First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy—the A380 arrival into Denver represents a 74% increase in seat availability.

With the longest commercial service runway in the US measuring 16,000 feet, DEN can easily accommodate the Airbus A380.

Lufthansa flight LH480 departs Munich mid-morning, arriving in Denver early afternoon.

The return flight, LH481, takes off later in the day for an overnight journey back to Germany.

The move makes Denver the sixth airport in Lufthansa’s A380 network and the first US destination to gain such service since the airline resumed A380 operations post-pandemic.

“Next year marks the 10th anniversary of Lufthansa flights from Denver to Munich, as well as a total of 25 years serving the market out of Frankfurt,” said Dirk Janzen, Vice President Passenger Airlines Sales, The Americas, Lufthansa Group.

“With this in mind, the strategic placement of Lufthansa’s Airbus A380 aircraft on the Denver – Munich route certainly emphasises the level of commitment that Lufthansa Group has towards Denver and the Rocky Mountain region.”
