July predicted to set new record for UK-US flights

Data specialists Cirium said more than 4,670 one-way flights are scheduled to depart the UK en route to the US this month.

July 2024 could set a new record for flights from the UK to the US, according to aviation data specialists Cirium.

The company said based on its data which dates back to 2004, there are more than 4,670 one-way flights scheduled for this month, meaning a flight is set to depart from the UK every nine and a half minutes.

The American Independence Day is currently the most popular day for departures, with 149 flights scheduled on that day alone while the overall number represents a 1.5% increase on July 2019 before Covid.

The growth also reveals the popularity of the US as a destination, services departing the UK bound for the country have grown by more than 21% since 2014.

British Airways will operate the most flights from the UK to the US during July, followed by Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

The remaining five carriers offering flights between the two countries are JetBlue, Norse Atlantic Airways, Aer Lingus, TUI and Singapore Airlines.
