Jet2 scraps La Palma flights six months after launching Canary Islands route

Jet2 is withdrawing from La Palma less than seven months after launching flights to the Canary Island, cancelling its Manchester service and abandoning a planned route from London Stansted.
The airline’s last scheduled Manchester–La Palma flight is due to operate on 30 October, ending a service that began on 3 April.
Jet2 abandons planned Stansted route
Flights from Stansted were due to start on 6 November, but the planned route has now been dropped before its launch.
Jet2 said the decision followed a review of its flying programme and customer demand.
The airline also sells package holidays to the destination through its tour operating business, Jet2holidays.

“As a customer-focused business, we continually review our programme in response to what our customers want, and we will make adjustments where required,” a spokesperson said.
“Following this latest review, we have taken the difficult decision to withdraw flights and holidays to La Palma.”
The company said it would contact affected customers, offering refunds or alternative holiday arrangements, and apologised for the disruption.
Changes to Jet2’s schedule since the summer
La Palma became Jet2’s fifth Canary Islands destination when the airline announced the expansion in June 2025.
The original programme included two weekly flights from Manchester throughout the year, with a separate twice-weekly service from Stansted scheduled to begin in late October 2026.
The Stansted operation was subsequently planned as a weekly Friday service from 6 November.
Its cancellation means Jet2 will not serve a connection which had been marketed as an exclusive route from London Stansted.

The move comes as airlines around the world face higher costs from increased jet fuel prices and macroeconomic uncertainty triggered by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.
The effect has been subdued demand and passengers booking flights much later than has traditionally been the case.
Jet2 still operates an extensive European network
Jet2 has expanded its Spanish network in recent years, adding routes and capacity to several destinations.
Last week, Jet2 opened bookings for summer 2028, releasing more than 20.9 million seats across its UK network as the airline seeks to capture demand from holidaymakers planning trips further in advance.
The programme covers 533 routes serving 64 beach and leisure city destinations from all 14 of Jet2’s UK bases.
The airline plans to operate more than 1,800 departing flights a week during peak summer periods.
Two new routes feature in the schedule. Jet2 will introduce a weekly service from Belfast International to Burgas, Bulgaria, while Bristol will gain a weekly flight to Enfidha in Tunisia. Both services are scheduled to operate during summer 2028.
