Garuda Indonesia and Japan Airlines announce partnership

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Garuda Indonesia have signed a Joint Business Agreement, strengthening cooperation on flights between Japan and Indonesia.

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Garuda Indonesia have signed a Joint Business Agreement, strengthening cooperation on flights between Japan and Indonesia.

This follows approval from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for Anti-Trust Immunity (ATI), enabling the two airlines to work together commercially.

The partnership aims to offer passengers increased flight options, improved connectivity, and an expanded network across both countries. The agreement also promises to enhance frequent flyer benefits.

JAL and Garuda Indonesia will collaborate on routes between the two nations and on domestic flights within Japan and Indonesia, allowing for smoother travel experiences. Additional details, including specific route enhancements, are expected to be announced soon as the airlines finalise their plans.

“We would like to thank the MLIT (Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) for approving our ATI application with Garuda Indonesia. We expect to launch this joint business relationship in the second the second quarter of 2025 to provide additional travel benefits for our mutual customers.”
