Flexjet to open largest European facility at Farnborough
September 24, 2024
Flexjet is to launch a new exclusive terminal at the UK’s Farnborough Airport in early 2026, part of the private aviation provider’s biggest infrastructure development outside of the US to date.
Construction began earlier this month on a new 2,098 square metre ramp-side building at the airport, a separate facility to Farnborough Airport’s existing main terminal. When operational in early 2026, Flexjet team members will offer what Flexjet chairman Kenn Ricci described as “a truly exceptional space for… aircraft owners and their guests, which will combine stunning, contemporary design, with warm hospitality and a welcoming environment”.
The new venture represents Flexjet’s biggest infrastructure development to date outside of the United States, complementing its new Flexjet House sales and experience centre opened in London’s Mayfair earlier this year.
Alongside offering an exclusive customer experience, the terminal will also be home to Flexjet’s operations teams, pilot amenities and “an extended, global Red Label Training Academy for cabin servers,” replacing Flexjet’s current offices within the airport site.
Carver Hain Art & Design is responsible for the design of the terminal’s interior, which will feature separate arrival and departure lounges, a dining area and separate bars “set against a fully glazed rear elevation with breathtaking views of the airfield”. A light sculpture by contemporary Canadian-British artist David Spriggs will be installed in the facility, which will also boast “unique mock fuselage lounge and luxurious washrooms”.
CEO of Farnborough Airport Simon Geere expressed his support for the new private terminal, explaining: “The new facility will not only complement our existing award-winning facilities, but it will also complement the travel experience for Flexjet passengers, whilst reinforcing Farnborough Airport as the UK’s largest and most important business aviation gateway”.
