Eviation, the developer of the all-electric Alice aircraft, has suspended operations and let go of most of its workforce as it seeks additional investment, according to multiple reports.

CEO Andre Stein told The Air Current that production had been put on hold temporarily while the company focused on securing long-term partnerships to bring electric regional air travel to market.

“We at Eviation are proud of what we have accomplished in advancing electric flight. This decision was not made lightly,” Stein reportedly said. “The measure gives the company time to consider strategic options.”

While Stein did not explicitly confirm workforce reductions, The Air Current and The Seattle Times reported that the majority of Eviation’s staff had been laid off.

Based in Washington State, Eviation Aircraft has been developing electric aircraft since 2015.

The all-electric Alice is a 9-seat commuter aircraft with an additional cargo version, and has orders totalling more than $5 billion.
