Emirates is bringing its Airbus A380 to Delhi from October
Emirates is deploying its Airbus A380 on the Dubai-Delhi route, expanding the reach of the superjumbo to the Indian capital.
The Gulf airline giant already serves Mumbai and Bengaluru with the A380 and will begin Delhi flights from 25 October on one of the four daily flights.
Four-class A380 to serve India’s capital city
From the autumn, EK512/513 will be served with the double-decker aircraft in a four-class configuration featuring Premium Economy, adding to Emirates’ retrofitted B777 aircraft, also in a four-class layout, which will be deployed across its three other daily flights to the city.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ chief commercial officer, said: “Given the strong demand for travel to and from India, it is an honour to expand our A380 footprint in the country, with Delhi joining Mumbai and Bengaluru as our third A380 destination. We would like to thank the authorities for making this possible and value our continued partnership.”
The fact that the A380s will feature premium economy is significant.

Rolling out premium economy to Delhi
It comes as Emirates has begun retrofitting its high-capacity two-class Airbus A380s, introducing a premium economy cabin on the upper deck for the first time as the airline continues to upgrade its flagship fleet.
The newly refurbished aircraft entered commercial service on 20 May this year, operating flights EK39 and EK40 between Dubai and Birmingham.
Previously configured with 615 seats in a high-density two-class layout, the aircraft now offers three cabins comprising 76 business class seats, 56 premium economy seats and 437 economy seats.
That modification also marked a first for Emirates’ A380 fleet, with premium economy now installed on the upper deck. On previous retrofitted A380s, the premium economy cabin has been located on the main deck, positioned at the front of the economy cabin
The four-class configuration being deployed to Delhi will include Emirates’ first class product.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, said of the retrofit programme, “The Emirates retrofit programme revolves around the central premise that we will offer our customers a truly elevated experience every time they choose to travel with us. To this end, our engineering team has been working continuously and at pace in close collaboration with an ecosystem of partners and suppliers to meticulously refresh and integrate the best-in-class products to each aircraft in the programme.”
The last time Emirates added a new destination for the A380 was in 2024 when the carrier added Osaka to the superjumbo’s network.
Emirates’ four-class A380 was brought in to replace the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operating the EK316/EK317 service to and from Osaka’s Kansai International Airport (KIX).
Making the most of the A380
Emirates continues to operate the world’s largest Airbus A380 fleet, deploying the aircraft on routes where demand supports its high capacity and premium cabin offering.
In the post-COVID years, the airline has gradually expanded A380 services as travel demand recovered, while also introducing the type to new and returning destinations as refurbished aircraft entered service.

At the same time, Emirates has adjusted A380 deployment on a route-by-route basis, replacing the aircraft with ‘smaller’ Boeing 777s where demand makes it more appropriate.
The airline’s ongoing retrofit programme is expected to support continued A380 operations well into the next decade.
