EHang and China Southern to explore eVTOL operations
EHang is to partner with China Southern Airlines General Aviation Company (CSAGAC) to explore tourism operations of the manufacturer’s EH216-S eVTOL in China’s Zuhai region.
The collaboration will centre on the flight operations, comprehensive support, and other aspects of EHang’s autonomous aircraft to “jointly cultivate innovative solutions for low-altitude economy,” explains EHang: the only eVTOL manufacturer worldwide to receive certification for its craft thus far.
Initial demonstration sites will be established at the Zuhai Jiuzhou Airport and the Zhuhai Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, with the aim to launch “routine low-altitude flight services and experimental activities”. Diverse use cases including inter-island cargo transportation, emergency response and medical rescue transportation services will also be explored.
“This cooperation will create innovative archetypes for the low-altitude economy, unlocking new growth opportunities for the general aviation industry and driving the high-quality advancement of the low altitude-economy industry chain in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area,” said Erbai Li, chairman of China Southern Airlines General Aviation Company.
The integration of EHang’s EH216-S into GSAGAC’s portfolio will complement its existing low-altitude economy consumer-oriented services including general aviation helicopter training and maintenance, short-haul transportation, aerial sightseeing and unmanned services.
