Going further: Canada’s airlines announce some of their longest 737 MAX flights yet
November 30, 2025
Air Canada and WestJet in recent days have both announced new routes between Canada and Europe. Some of these routes are topping the list for the country’s longest Boeing 737 MAX flights. Although the Airbus A321XLR continues to drive recent transatlantic expansion from other airlines, the MAX seems to be taking centre stage for Canada’s largest two carriers.
WestJet announced a string of exciting new routes, connecting new and historic markets. Cardiff in Wales, for example, will be getting a transatlantic connection to Toronto. Similarly, Air Canada announced that it would be deploying its narrowbodies on flights to places like Nantes and Ponta Delgada.
Air Canada’s new Brussels route is its longest MAX flight
Of the five routes Air Canada announced earlier this week, four of them were new. Its Montreal to Tel Aviv connection, on the other hand, was a service resumption with a Boeing 787 aircraft.

It announced an exciting new Montreal to Berlin connection with its A321XLRs, and also added three 737 MAX routes. It will begin flying from Montreal to Nantes, as well as Toronto to Ponta Delgada. Finally, it will introduce a thrice-weekly flight from Halifax to Brussels – its new longest MAX route.

WestJet CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech alluded to the capabilities of the Boeing 737 MAX planes in a statement concerning the new routes. “Leveraging the extended range capability of our growing share of Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft, WestJet is pleased to deliver a suite of new global destinations that are uniquely suited to our leisure strategy in Eastern Canada.,” he said.

“The MAX can connect Eastern Canada to rich cultural destinations that guests want to travel to, and we are proud to be the airline that takes them there.”
