Aviation Capital Group has ordered 75 A320neo family aircraft from Airbus, marking the largest aircraft purchase in the lessor’s nearly 40-year history.

Deliveries of the single-aisle aircraft are expected between 2032 and 2035.

The aircraft lessor, based in Newport Beach, California, signed the firm order on 16 October. The deal increases ACG’s total commitment to the Airbus A320neo Family to 190 aircraft.

Deal worth “around $11.76 billion”

According to Reuters, ACG bought the aircraft for around $11.76 billion. However, the actual cost has not been officially revealed.

Thomas Baker, Chief Executive Officer and President of ACG said: “ACG’s portfolio strategy is focused on new-technology narrowbody aircraft that are most in-demand with airlines globally.”

It’s the largest order in the nearly 40-year history of ACG, and he added it was “a statement of confidence in the long-term future of air travel and in ACG’s important role as a conduit between airlines, aircraft and capital.”

Airbus, which released its September orders and deliveries last week, announced the deal earlier today.

“This major investment reinforces our long-term and important partnership which dates back to 2007 when ACG placed its first direct order with Airbus”, said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business.

“ACG will be able to offer its customers the A320neo Family well into the next decade.”

And he added: “We salute ACG’s selection of the A320neo Family – the world’s most modern and efficient single aisle aircraft.”

What is Aviation Capital Group?

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Newport Beach, California, Aviation Capital Group (ACG) is one of the world’s largest commercial aircraft leasing companies.

The lessor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Century Corporation, owns and manages a portfolio of aircraft leased to airlines around the world.

Alongside aircraft leasing, ACG provides fleet financing and aviation asset management services.

The company has maintained a long-standing relationship with Airbus, placing its first direct order in 2007.

Popularity of Airbus A320 Family

With more than 20,400 orders globally, the A320 Family  is the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft.

The Airbus A320 Family includes the A319neo, A320neo and A321neo variants, giving airlines flexibility across a wide range of short- and medium-haul routes.

The A321neo, the largest member of the family, has proven particularly popular with airlines thanks to its increased passenger capacity and extended range capabilities.

According to Airbus, the latest-generation A320neo Family delivers at least 20% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared with previous-generation single-aisle aircraft.
