Donald Trump has voiced his frustration with Boeing over delays to the new Air Force One aircraft, suggesting alternative options could be considered.

Speaking about the replacement of the presidential aircraft, Trump stated: “No, I’m not happy with Boeing. It takes them a long time to do, you know, Air Force One, we gave that contract out a long time ago.”

The US president also hinted at seeking alternatives, adding: “We may buy a plane or get a plane, or something.”

The Air Force One programme has faced multiple setbacks, including cost overruns and production delays. Boeing is supplying two modified 747-8 aircraft under a contract signed during Trump’s first presidency.

However, the delivery timeline has slipped, with the new airframes now expected to enter service by 2027 at the earliest. It may even be pushed back until 2029 or years later, a senior administration official was quoted by Reuters as saying.

Trump’s comments add to Boeing’s growing woes, as the company faces scrutiny over manufacturing issues across its commercial and defence programmes.
