Airframe manufacturing giant, Airbus has confirmed commercial aircraft deliveries in 2024 were up on 2023 figures, with 766 commercial aircraft delivered to 86 global customers last year.
The 2024 figures showed a 4.2% increase on 2023 when the OEM delivered a total of 735 aircraft, including 571 from the A320 family. This trend continued in 2024, with the A320 family dominating Airbus’ deliveries, accounting for 602 units. Additionally, Airbus delivered 75 A220 aircraft in 2024, an increase from 68 in the previous year. The A330 program remained steady with 32 deliveries in both 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, the A350 family saw a slight decline, with 57 aircraft delivered in 2024 compared to 64 in 2023.
Commenting on Airbus’ commercial aircraft deliveries in 2024, Christian Scherer, CEO Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said, last year “confirmed sustained demand for new aircraft.”
“Given the complex and fast-changing environment we continue to operate in, we consider 2024 a good year. It has been a massive team effort to deliver this result,” added Scherer congratulating his team.
The airframe manufacturer had set a previously disclosed target of “around 770” commercial aircraft deliveries in 2024, a reduction from the original target of 800 set earlier in the year.
Schrerer also noted that last year saw Airbus gaining “phenomenal momentum” for its widebody orderbook and “winning key customer decisions with important customers.” The company celebrated several landmark firsts, including the first ever A321XLR delivery to Spanish flag-carrier, Iberia, in November, as well as first A330neo and A350 deliveries to several customers globally, including Malaysia Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines.
In December alone, Airbus delivered 123 aircraft to 44 customers. It also closed the month with 99 aircraft orders. The 2024 year end backlog stands at 8,658 aircraft.
