October 10, 2024
Serco has announced the launch of its new Space Academy, aimed at equipping individuals and organisations with the skills needed to thrive in the growing global space industry.
With over six decades of experience in space operations, Serco is positioning the academy as a leading training hub for both technical and business aspects of the sector.
The Serco Space Academy offers a wide range of courses covering key areas such as Earth observation, satellite communications, satellite navigation, spacecraft operations, and space engineering management.
Additionally, the programme explores business-focused topics like the emerging “new space” economy and innovation, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the industry.
Training will be delivered by a team of seasoned experts, many of whom have decades of experience in space-related fields. Courses are conducted across Serco’s state-of-the-art facilities in Europe, with locations in the UK, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands—many of which are situated near the European Space Agency’s key operational centres.
The academy is open to participants worldwide, with its first graduate, hailing from the Middle East, having completed the programme in August 2024.
Commenting on the launch, Roberto Mulatti, Serco’s space managing director for Europe, said: “At Serco, we are committed to shaping the future of the space industry by developing the next generation of space professionals. With the launch of the Serco’s Space Academy, we are creating a world-class training hub that draws on our expertise and operational history in the space sector.”
The academy is designed to cater to a diverse audience, from advanced university students to experienced professionals in the public and private sectors. Courses can be tailored to suit varying levels of expertise and include a mix of practical and theoretical training to ensure participants can apply their new knowledge in real-world settings.
