Vietjet Air is set to launch its first-ever direct flights between Vietnam and New Zealand, connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Auckland from September 2025.

The new service, announced at a ceremony in Hanoi attended by Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, will operate four times a week.

The route marks a significant milestone in Vietnam-New Zealand relations, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the recent elevation of the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said: “I’m very pleased with Vietjet’s announcement that they will develop a new route to New Zealand, strengthening the connectivity and the people-to-people links between our two countries, which is a critical enabler of more growth and brings our people closer together.

“This enables lots of opportunities across the board, not just in tourism but also in trade and also in education.”
