Ukraine’s SkyUp Airlines to launch from Moldova
December 18, 2024
Ukraine’s SkyUp Airlines has announced plans to operate direct flights from Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, to European destinations.
Starting in April 2025, passengers will be able to fly to Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, and Cyprus.
The decision to base operations out of Chisinau Airport is a calculated response to the continued closure of Ukrainian airspace due to the war.
For many Ukrainians, maintaining international connections remains a necessity.
Chisinau Airport, located just a short journey from the Ukrainian border, provides a convenient and reliable gateway for travellers seeking to reach key European destinations. This proximity allows SkyUp Airlines to cater to the travel needs of Ukrainians while ensuring operational safety and efficiency.
“As a Ukrainian carrier, it has not been easy since the onset of the full-scale invasion. To maintain our team, fleet, and operations, we had to quickly adapt to the global aviation market,” said Dmytro Seroukhov, CEO of SkyUp Airlines.
“Today, SkyUp Airlines is an international brand with Ukrainian roots. Our hearts are always warmed when Ukrainians at airports worldwide take photos of our aircraft and share them on social media with the words ‘Because it’s home.’
“We are thrilled to launch regular flights again and reconnect with our Ukrainian passengers on board. We are committed to ensuring Ukrainian aviation remains resilient and making travel easier for Ukrainians around the world.”
