Qazaq Air to resume flights to Samarkand

March 13, 2025

Kazakh carrier QAZAQ AIR has announced the return of regular flights on the Turkistan-Samarkand route, set to commence on May 1, 2025.
The route will operate twice a week between two of Central Asia’s most historically significant cities. Passengers will also benefit from connections to Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital.
This news follows the announcement by Samarkand International Airport of new international services. Starting on April 1, 2025, Azerbaijan Airlines will operate two weekly flights to Baku, while Ural Airlines will launch direct flights to Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
Ulugbek Shamsikulov, CEO of Air Marakanda, the management company of Samarkand International Airport, commented: “The resumption of services between Samarkand and Turkistan provides an important link between two spiritual and historical centres. This route also strengthens the commercial and business ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.”
Samarkand International Airport, named the fastest-growing airport in Europe and Central Asia by Airports Council International (ACI), saw 1.38 million passengers in 2024, a 36.6% growth compared to the previous year.
