South American low-cost carrier JetSMART has selected Pratt & Whitney GTF engines to power an additional 35 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, including nine A321XLRs. The deal was announced at the 2024 Singapore Airshow. Pratt & Whitney will also provide JetSMART with GTF engine maintenance through an EngineWise Comprehensive service agreement.
JetSMART in 2019 chose GTFs to power 70 A320neo family aircraft. The airline operates an additional 15 leased GTF-powered A320neo family aircraft and a fleet of 11 A320ceo family aircraft powered by P&W V2500s.
Rick Deurloo, president of commercial engines at Pratt & Whitney, describes GTF fuel efficiency, payload and range as “unmatched”.
