Fokker Services to launch MRO capabilities for Airbus H225M Helicopters in the Netherlands
November 22, 2024
Fokker Services Group (FSG) has agreed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus Helicopters to establish MRO services for 12 H225M helicopters that have been acquired by the Dutch Ministry of Defence.
The agreement, which was signed during the NEDS/ NIDV Exhibition Defence and Security in Rotterdam, solidifies a partnership aimed at enhancing maintenance capabilities for H225M helicopters in the Netherlands and builds on the Dutch Ministry of Defence’s decision to invest in 12 of the rotorcraft.
The two organisations will now develop base maintenance capabilities for the Airbus helicopters within the Woensdrecht Maintenance Valley, providing the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) with streamlined access to comprehensive maintenance services and ensuring operational readiness. Alain Krief, head of region industrial participation for Europe at Airbus Helicopters, noted the collaboration between the two organisations will “provide higher fleet availability and create high-skilled long-term jobs in the Netherlands,”
Leveraging expertise
Recognised globally for its advanced rotorcraft engineering and maintenance expertise, Airbus Helicopters will contribute its extensive experience with the H225M platform. Powered by two Makila 2A1 turboshaft engines and offering all weather capability, the H225M is a combat-proven multi-role helicopter used for special operations, search and rescue, tactical transport and medical evacuations. As an existing strategic maintenance partner for the RNLAF’s NH90 Frigate Helicopter, FSG will bring its deep technical expertise to the project.
Commenting on the partnership, Roland van Dijk, CEO of FSG, stated: “Developing the H225M Base Maintenance capability aligns seamlessly with our existing expertise and our strategic ambition to expand as a key maintenance partner for the RNLAF.”
