XPENG AEROHT has broken ground on its flying car manufacturing facility in Guangzhou, China, with the factory possessing capacity to manufacture 10,000 units a year.

“This establishment of the world’s first mass production facility for flying cars is a milestone not only for XPENG AEROHT but also for the Guangzhou Development District’s advancement in the low-altitude economy sector,” commented Shao Jingbo, deputy director of the Guangzhou Development District Administrative Committee. “We look forward to collaborating with XPEND AEROHT to drive the flying car industry forward”.

XPENG AEROHT’s ‘Land Aircraft Carrier’ modular vehicle pairs a road-worthy base with a multicopter-configured aerial element, carried internally within the main vehicle (which will also provide charging capacity to the aircraft). The air module recently completed its inaugural manned test light and is set to make its global public debut at the upcoming China Airshow next month.

Ahead of the Land Aircraft Carrier’s pre-sales process going live later this year, the factory is already eyeing elevated demand; aiming to leverage the efficiency of automotive mass production to “improve quality consistency, reduce production costs, and significantly shorten delivery timelines”. With an initial footprint of approximately 180,000 square metres and incorporating four major workshops, the facility will be the first of its kind to “apply advanced assembly line processes for large-scale flying car production”.

“This manufacturing base adheres to the principles of exquisite, intelligence, and green, establishing a global benchmark for flying car production,” concluded XPENG AEROHT founder Zhao Deli.
