Embraer celebrates wave of E2 orders as Abra confirmed as latest E-Jet operator

Latin American operator Abra has been announced as a major new customer for Embraer’s E2 platform, as the Brazilian manufacturer unveils more than 50 new and follow-on E2 orders.

Abra is the latest customer to join Embraer’s E-jet family, bringing the total number of E2 operators worldwide to 25. In an order confirmed on Tuesday 21 July, Abra, which is the parent company of Gol, Avianca and Wamos, was welcomed as Embraer’s newest E2 customer.

“We are proud to support Abra Group in its growth journey with the E195-E2, one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly single-aisle aircraft available today,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer’s Commercial division. “This agreement reinforces Embraer’s position as a key partner for airlines seeking versatility and performance from small narrowbody aircraft.”

Abra to acquire up to 45 Embraer E195-E2s

Embraer’s deal with Abra covers 45 aircraft and comprises 20 firm orders, 10 purchase options and 15 purchase rights, giving the Latin American group critical fleet flexibility to support its regional connectivity growth strategy. The deal with Abra was the largest order confirmed in a series of Embraer announcements at a press briefing during the Farnborough International Airshow.  

Embraer confirms wave of follow-on orders with existing customers

Among the other announcements made on 21 July, Fuji Dream Airlines confirmed an order for two additional E175s. A long-standing customer, operating an all-Embraer fleet, FDA is recognised for its distinctive livery featuring a different colour on every aircraft.

Luxair announced an order for a further four E195-E2s: three firm orders and one purchase right.  Luxembourg’s flag carrier only began E2 operations in January 2026 and already flies four of the aircraft type with two more on firm backlog. The regional airline connects Luxembourg to around 100 destinations across Europe.

Spanish regional carrier Binter, the first E195-E2 operator in Europe since December 2019, has grown its fleet from an initial order of three aircraft to 16 in service today. The airline has now confirmed its fourth follow-on order for five E195-E2 jets, reinforcing the type’s role in connecting the Canary Islands with surrounding regions.

Meanwhile, aircraft lessor Azorra, which specialises in regional crossover and small narrowbody aircraft, confirmed a follow-on order of 15 firm aircraft plus purchase rights. The deal pushed Embraer’s total E2 backlog beyond 500 units and took Azorra’s own order tally past 50. Embraer also announced a landmark MoU agreement with Azorra for 20 freighter conversions, targeting the fast-growing high-yield express cargo market.

“E-jet momentum continues to accelerate,” stated Meijer. “The mix of repeat orders and new customer wins reflects strong confidence in the E2 programme’s commercial performance.”

Embraer sees total E-Jet sales total 66 units for year-to-date

In total, Embraer confirmed around 30 firm E-Jet orders, alongside the 20 freighter conversions to be carried out through its services and support division. Combined with prior 2026 activity, total E-Jet sales for the year to date stand at approximately 66 units, keeping the manufacturer on track against full-year guidance of 80 to 85 units.

“We are on the right path for sustainable growth with profitable growth across all units,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO Commercial Aviation Embraer. “We are on track to deliver 80 to 85 commercial jets and 160 to 170 executive jets. Looking ahead to the next 10 years, we are planning substantial mid-term growth in terms of revenue with double-digit revenue by 2030 beyond $11 billion.”

Strong growth momentum also seen across Embraer’s defence portfolio

Embraer Defence & Security president and CEO Bosco da Costa Junior outlined a period of strong momentum across the unit’s core platforms. The KC-390 Millennium continues to set the benchmark in its category, recognised as the most efficient platform in its class, with sales momentum building further following the recent addition of the UAE to the aircraft’s growing customer family and the first C-390 delivery and naming ceremony in the Czech Republic, completed in just 20 months from contract signature to delivery.

“Embraer is also enhancing the KC-390’s capability with palletised effects, a development attracting demand from customers across the globe and demonstrating the platform’s flexibility,” explained da Costa.

Alongside this, the A-29 Super Tucano remains a market leader. The platform has recently gained counter-UAS mission capability, with Embraer further increasing investment, including new fifth-generation avionics, video downlink, and expanded counter-UAS mission features.

Da Costa also highlighted that the Super Tucano has secured 39 new orders in under 21 months and surpassed 625,000 flight hours. On the industrial side, Embraer is expanding Gripen production capacity in Brazil, adding capability to produce 20 additional aircraft at the facility.
