Atlas Air has announced a new agreement with SATS and Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to strengthen their global cooperation, focusing on air cargo handling and logistics.

The partnership builds on existing collaborations, particularly in North America, where WFS already provides handling services for Atlas Air at major airport hubs, including Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, and New York JFK.

The agreement will also extend cooperation to Singapore, the headquarters of SATS, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, enhancing warehouse services, freighter ramp handling, and crew transport solutions.

SATS and WFS handle over 237,800 tonnes of airfreight annually for Atlas Air at these locations, carried onboard around 5,300 freighter flights.

This is the first such agreement between Atlas Air, which operates the world’s largest fleet of Boeing 747 freighters, and SATS, a key player in air cargo handling services.

The expanded collaboration aims to develop a fully integrated ground and cargo handling model to support the increasing demand for e-commerce and air cargo transport, particularly for high-value shipments such as perishables and pharmaceuticals.

“This expanded partnership with SATS and WFS is a testament to our shared vision for the future of air cargo,” said Martin Drew, chief strategy and transformation officer, Atlas Air Worldwide. “By combining SATS and WFS’ extensive ground handling expertise with Atlas Air’s global network and commitment to innovation, we can unlock new opportunities for growth and efficiency.”

“This collaboration will deliver significant benefits to our customers by enhancing visibility, service quality, and reliability. It will also drive meaningful progress across the industry by promoting sustainability and spearheading digital transformation. We are confident this partnership will provide exceptional value and further strengthen our position as a global leader in the air cargo market.”

“We are pleased to have Atlas Air partner with SATS and WFS as we work together to drive efficiencies in the air cargo supply chain to better serve our customers,” said Kerry Mok, SATS president and CEO.

“Our worldwide network, combined with Atlas Air’s fleet of freighters and global presence, offers immense opportunities to develop value-added and specialised services that deliver speed and traceability to enhance our customers’ competitiveness.”
