Chinese aircraft manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) has reportedly secured orders for up to 330 of its planes.

The purchase orders come from multiple leasing firms, local Chinese media said, as COMAC showcases its products at China’s biggest airshow in Zhuhai.

Most (300) of the 330 aircraft ordered are COMAC’s C919, billed as China’s “first homegrown large jetliner”. The remaining 30 are for the ARJ21.

Certification

COMAC gained airworthiness and environmental type certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) last month for the C919.

“The type certificate approval means the C919 has the ‘certificate of entry’ into the civil aviation market,” said Yang Zhenmei, a senior CAAC official in charge of airworthiness certification.
