GOL confirms Lisbon flights for new Airbus A330neos, plots Paris and Orlando later this year
March 15, 2026
GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes confirmed last week that it would be introducing the Airbus A330neo into its fleet, marking its foray into the widebody long-haul market. The Brazilian low-cost carrier confirmed that New York-JFK would become its first destination for the aircraft type, with plans to expand to Europe with the plane later in the year.
It will receive its first example later this year, with deliveries of its five examples to be completed by the end of 2027. The aircraft will seat nearly 300 people and can fly up to 15-hour sectors.
GOL announces services to Lisbon, with Paris and Orlando coming soon
GOL has announced that flights to Lisbon will begin on 16 September operating four times per week with an Airbus A330. The carrier will be competing against TAP Air Portugal, which offers service between the two cities double daily, using a mix of A330-200 and A330neo equipment.

GOL says that it will also offer connections “throughout Brazil and South America” via its Rio hub. It says that passengers can connect to more than 30 destinations from the airport, of which five are international across the continent.
Details for its new routes to Paris and Orlando will be revealed later this week, but will leverage its upcoming A330neo capacity. Speaking to Aerospace Global News last week, aviation analyst Behramjee Ghadially had in fact suggested using the aircraft to launch nonstop flights between Rio de Janeiro and Orlando given the high-demand and lack of competition.
Its route to Paris will see competition from Air France, which operates to Rio on a daily basis. Its new four-weekly connection to Orlando meanwhile will see no competition.

Orlando is already served by the carrier on a daily basis from Brasilia using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. It also flies nonstop from Fortaleza to Orlando using the same aircraft type once per week.
GOL will launch flights to New York in July
GOL announced last week that its first route with the A330neo would be from Rio de Janeiro to New York-JFK. The new route will stimulate the market which currently only enjoys daily non-stop flights during the winter months on an American Airlines Boeing 787-8.
GOL’s new route will begin on 8 July 2026 using a wet-leased Airbus A330ceo aircraft from sister carrier Wamos Air. Its own A330neos will takeover the route once they enter-into-service later this year.
Network growth is clearly underway at GOL. One of the constraints to the carrier’s operation is the dense population that surrounds some of South America’s most populous cities, the carrier shared in an exclusive interview with Aerospace Global News this week. This includes Rio and São Paulo in Brazil.

As for its fleet, the carrier’s foray into the widebody segment is unique. Indeed, though carrier has flown widebody jets in the past, this was short-lived. When it merged with Varig in 2007, it inherited the airline’s Boeing 767s. These were retired a year later. Since then, it has stuck to a fleet of Boeing 737 planes.
