Moroccan national carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has unveiled a major expansion of its international network for 2026. The new routes for part of the strategy to make the airline’s hub at Casablanca a “global aviation hub”, according to a statement issued by the carrier
The new routes will see RAM spread its wings on routes to points across Africa and Europe, adding to other previously announced routes to Russia, North America and elsewhere next year.
A new year, and new routes for Royal Air Maroc
As revealed by Morocco World News on 15 December, the airline will push ahead with its expansion plans for 2026, with a range of new routes aimed at bolstering the carrier’s international network.
The new routes will include flights from Casablanca’s Mohamed V Airport (CMN) to Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo, Tripoli in Libya, Beirut in Lebanon, as well as Bilbao and Alicante in Spain.

The longest of these latest routes will be to Pointe-Noire at 2,919 miles (4,670km), while the shortest will be Alicante with a total sector length of just 520 miles (832km).
The new routes are being added to a growing list of destinations for 2026, which already includes previously announced services to St Petersburg in Russia and Los Angeles in the US.
RAM’s other route expansion plans for 2026
Additionally, in June 2026, a new Casablanca to Palma service will further strengthen the carrier’s Spanish network, which already includes Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, and Seville. In France, RAM will expand its footprint with the opening of a Casablanca to Lille route in July 2026.
The airline will also see added capacity with the launch of a direct flight between Casablanca and Verona from June 20, 2026. This new route will be added to the carrier’s already extensive network to Italy, which includes services to Rome, Milan, Bologna, Naples, Catania, Turin, and Venice.

The carrier also previously announced the first direct flights between Casablanca and N’Djamena in Chad, which began in September of this year.
The route between Morocco and Los Angeles, using the company’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners, is being inaugurated in advance of the FIFA 2026 soccer World Cup, being held in venues across the United States from 11 June to 19 July 2026. The flights represent the first time an African carrier has served the Southern California city since Ethiopian Airlines vacated the city in 2019.
Frequencies on existing routes are also being increased
Alongside the opening of a plethora of new routes in 2026, the airline has said it intends to increase frequencies of several other important routes.
These include several long-haul routes, including São Paulo, Miami, Washington, and Dubai. These routes will be served by the carrier’s 787 fleet, which have recently received upgraded cabins.
RAM’s 787-8 Dreamliners accommodate 274 passengers in a two-class configuration (18 in business class and 256 in economy) while its larger 787-9s seat 302 passengers (24 in business class and 278 in economy).
Advancing Morocco’s ambitions as a travel hub
“These new routes translate our growth ambitions and mark a key stage in our development plan,” said Royal Air Maroc’s Chief Executive Officer, Hamid Addou. “Since 2023, we have taken delivery of around ten additional aircraft, increased frequencies on several strategic destinations, and opened nearly twenty international routes.
“In 2026, we move to a new phase with at least ten additional routes, further strengthening Morocco’s connectivity with major global cities and supporting economic and tourism development,” he added.”

The new routes are being introduced in pursuit of the airline’s strategy to reinforce its medium-haul network from Morocco while also extending long-haul services from its Casablanca hub. The growth is also being facilitated by the arrival of new aircraft into the company’s fleet.
RAM’s current fleet composition
According to Planepotters.net, RAM currently operates a fleet of 61 aircraft. This includes 39 Boeing 737s, one Boeing 767-300ER, five 787-8 and six 787-9 Dreamliners, plus four Embraer ERJ-190s and six ATR72 for domestic flights.
The airline has recently been bolstering its medium-haul fleet with the addition of three former Qatar Airways Boeing 737 MAX, with a further two yet to be delivered. Additionally, the airline has one more 787-9 on order from the manufacturer.
As reported by Reuters back in July, RAM is currently working on a plan that could see up to 200 new aircraft enter the carrier’s fleet in the coming years. Alongside a substantial order for Embraer E190-E2 regional jets, according to sources close to the matter, the airline is also currently in talks with both Airbus and Boeing for new aircraft.
Through this latest round of expansion, Royal Air Maroc state sit is aiming to “strengthen national air connectivity and support tourism flows, while continuing efforts to improve the overall passenger experience.”
