Delivery of its first A330-900 marks a key element of Kuwait Airways’ transformation strategy, which is centred on enhancing and modernising its fleet in order to drive future growth. The Kuwait Airways’ A330-900 will feature three cabin classes with a total of 278 seats: 32 in business class, 21 in premium economy and 225 in economy.
The delivery of A330-900 9K-APJ (c/n 2081) to Kuwait on 10 December 2024 made Kuwait Airways the first airline in the Middle East to operate the -900 version of the A330neo. Since the airline already operates the A330-800 the delivery also made Kuwait Airways the world’s first airline to operate both sub variants of the Airbus A330neo.
The newly delivered aircraft is the first of seven A330-900s on order for Kuwait Airways, and will join a fleet that aleady includes four A330-800s as well as two narrowbody A320s, and nine A320neos. With a high degree of operational commonality across the A320 and A330 Families, the airline will be able to use the same pool of pilots and engineers for both types, reducing costs and improving technical and operational efficiency.
The Kuwait Airways fleet also includes ten Boeing B777-300ERs.
