On the 37th day of its strike action, 19 October 2024, IAM Union District 751 announced that, with the help of Acting US Secretary of Labour, Julie Su, it had received a negotiated proposal and resolution to end the strike. It told its members that the proposal warranted being presented to the members and was worthy of their consideration.

The Union said that it planned to hold a contract ratification vote on Wednesday, 23 October 2024, and was working to secure voting locations to accommodate the membership. There will be only one ballot to either accept or reject the bargaining agreement, and a simple 51% majority of members voting will determine the outcome.

The proposal, negotiated between the Union and Boeing includes several key improvements compared to what was offered in the rejected 12 September 2024 offer.

If the proposal is accepted, there will be a 35% general wage increase spread over four years (12% in Year 1, 8% in Year 2, 8% in Year 3, and 7% in Year 4). The AMPP incentive plan is reinstated, with a guaranteed minimum annual payout of 4%. Including a 2024 payout to be made in February, 2025. There was also a one-time Ratification Bonus of $7,000. The Union observed that: “it should be safe to say that our goal of over 40% wage growth during the life of the agreement has been achieved.”

Boeing will completely match the first 8% contributed to the Company 401(k) retirement plan, alongside a 4% automatic company contribution. Additionally, there will be a one-time $5,000 contribution to each unit member’s Boeing 401(k).

There are also concessions on Sick Time Call-Outs, and the MRSP (Machinists Retirement Savings Plan) has been removed.
