Porter Airlines invests in Halifax hangar to strengthen maintenance capacity

April 3, 2025

Canadian regional carrier Porter Airlines has leased a 20,000 square foot hangar at Halifax Stanfield International Airport to complement its existing maintenance operations.
Operating a fleet of Embraer E195-E2 and De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft and serving destinations across Canada and the US, Porter Airline’s investment in the Halifax facility reinforces its commitment to operational reliability and efficiency as it looks to grow its footprint across North America.
As the airline looks to expand its fleet, the new maintenance facility will provide additional capacity to the airline’s existing maintenance operations across multiple locations. With Porter operating 30 daily flights on seven routes this summer, the airport is an important hub in the airline’s network. It’s presence in the Canada-US market will be 25% larger than last summer. The enhanced summer schedule will be supported by 10 additioanl Embraer E195s compared to 2024, growing the number of aircraft in the airline’s fleet to 44 (of an order up to 100).
“Porter is making strategic investments to support our continued growth and provide the best service to our customers,” said Kent Woodside, executive vice president and chief operation officer at Porter Airlines.
“Halifax is an important part of our network and this hangar provides a dedicated location to maintain our fleet, while creating rewarding careers within the community.”
