The Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 24 – Monday 27 May 2024) saw 11,959 flights scheduled to depart UK airports – equating to over 2.1 million seats, according to Cirium data.
Friday (24 May) was set to see the highest number of UK departures since October 2019, with over 3,150 departures on that day alone.
Across the weekend, departure numbers were 5% higher than the same dates in 2023.
Scheduled departures across the weekend were also set to reach 92% of 2019 levels.
Heathrow Airport was projected to record the highest number of departures, followed by Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh.
The most popular international destinations for UK departures were projected to be Dublin, Amsterdam, Palma, Alicante and Malaga.
EasyJet was projected to be the largest airline during the weekend, followed by British Airways, Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI.
