Lufthansa Group signs large A350 order with Airbus

Lufthansa Group signs large order agreement with AirbusLufthansa Group has signed an agreement with Airbus to expand its fleet by 10 Airbus A350-1000s and five Airbus A350-900s.

In addition, Airbus and Lufthansa have also signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) to further strengthen their cooperation in the field of sustainability and future technologies.

This includes the intensified use of sustainable aviation fuels, the further optimisation of operations through a more efficient flight management and exploration into the use of hydrogen.

Riyadh Airports Company (RAC) has made sure it hRiyadh Airports successfully trials facial recognition technology by SITAas become one of the most progressive and environmentally friendly airport operators after successfully trialling Smart Path, a facial recognition technology by SITA.

The technology, which was tested at check-in counters and boarding gates recognises the passengers’ digital identity when stepping up to the camera.

The facial image is directly linked to the passengers’ physical passport and travel documents at check-in. This allows them to be identified at security or boarding by simply taking a picture.

Boom looks to reduce its carbon output by 2025

Boom Supersonic has said that after achieving carbon neutrality in 2021, it is now focused on its next sustainability milestone – net zero carbon by 2025.

In order to do that, Boom said it has defined three essential steps: Measure the emissions of its entire value chain; reduce its carbon output when it sees opportunities to do so; offset residual emissions that can’t be mitigated by investing in high-impact, high-quality carbon removals.
