The aircraft will be used by the Centrum Leteckého Výcviku LOM sp (CLV–LOM) at Pardubice Air Base, for training pilots for the Vzdušné síly armády České republiky (CzAF, Czech Air Force).

Czech LOM Company and its CLV (centre for aerial training) is already training Czech and allied pilots in a two-phase approach, initially on the Zlin Z142C-AF, and then the Aero L-39NG at Pardubice airfield, where a new simulator training centre is being constructed around L-39NG simulators provided by Czech VR Group company.

In future, trainees will then move to the 21st tactical aviation air base at Čáslav for training on the F-35A and at another Full Mission Simulator simulator centre (also provided by VR Group, but this time in cooperation with Lockheed Martin).

The new aircraft will replace the CLV–LOM’s existing fleet of eight ageing Zlin Z142C-AF aircraft. The first three aircraft will be delivered during 2025, with the remaining five deliveries following in 2026.

The Centrum Leteckého Výcviku LOM sp received its first  first L-39NG Skyfox (serial 0477, c/n 167017) at Pardubice air base on 24 January 2025 with the second (0478, c/n 167018) following on 28 January 2025.

Photos of the Z242LSi aircraft under construction at Zlin Aero revealed five serials or construction numbers –  0857, 0862, 0863, 0865, and 0866.
