Last Friday 3 May was the busiest day for UK departures so far this year – with over 3,000 departures – according to data firm Cirium.
During the Early May Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday to Monday, 8,486 flights are scheduled to depart UK airports – equating to over 1.5 million seats.
Departures from UK airports this weekend are at 94% of 2019 levels, while departures are up 10% compared to the same period in 2023, showing the continued recovery of the industry.
The most popular international destinations for UK departures are Dublin, Amsterdam, Palma, Alicante and Malaga.
EasyJet is projected to be the busiest airline throughout the weekend, followed by British Airways, Ryanair, Jet2 and Loganair.
Heathrow Airport will see the largest number of departures, followed by Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh.
