AutoFlight breaks ground on Wuhan factory

April 14, 2025

German eVTOL developer AutoFlight has broken ground on its manufacturing facility in China’s Wuhan, accelerating production of both its aircraft and China’s so-called ‘low altitude economy’.
The assembly facility in central China will serve as both manufacturing base and exhibition centre, handling aircraft final assembly, ground testing, flight testing, sales and service, delivery, and product showcases, explained the OEM. It is currently developing two aircraft: the five-seat ‘Prosperity’ model and the ‘CarryAll’ cargo variant, the latter of which received type certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in March 2024.
A collaborative partnership with the Hanyang District of Wuhan will see both parties work towards a “model demonstration zone for China’s low-altitude economy,” explained AutoFlight, which will “collaborate on initial demonstrations of specialised low-altitude operations and future passenger services in the city”. Unmanned demonstration flights from an as-yet-undisclosed Prosperity operator are scheduled for the ongoing 2025 Osaka World Expo, preceding anticipated type certification in 2026.
In February 2025, the Hanyang District Investment Group placed an order for 12 AutoFlight aircraft (a combination of crewed and uncrewed variants) for a total sale price of US $21.5 million. At the signing ceremony, president of the China United Nations Procurement Promotion Association Wang Xunan announced that the Group has been officially designated as the first registered supplier of eVTOL aircraft for United Nations Procurement.
